The Three Best Beaches To Visit If You Work In Midtown Manhattan

Manhattan is an amazing place to live and work in. But sometimes you want to get away from it all and go to the beach for some relaxation in the sun. Now a big problem that exists living and working in Manhattan is that you probably don't have a car to drive. I mean owning a car in the city is usually a high expense, and renting one for a trip is costly. The good news is that there are some great beaches that you can get to from Manhattan without having to take a flight or a long drive. Here are three of the best beaches you can get to from Midtown:

Montauk

Depending on how long of a vacation you want to take, Montauk could be the perfect beach getaway for you. It's about a 3.5 hour train ride from Penn Station and once you're there you can catch a cab, Uber, or walk depending where you are planning on staying.

It tends to be quieter than the Hampton's which it is in close proximity. Some people consider Montauk part of the Hampton's, but that's up for debate. Though, it benefits from its proximity since it's close enough to be well maintained and taken care of, but far enough away that staying there for a visit is way more affordable. This is true even during the summer peak season.

A great thing to do is to go to Montauk with friends or family and rent a house for however long you want to stay. No matter where you rent you'll be within walking distance to a quieter beach than you're probably used to. Additionally, you can rent some stunning 3 bedroom places for around $300 a night, so split between people you're only spending $100 a night.

There are a lot of options beach-wise, but my favorite is Ditch Plains as it's usually pretty quiet even during peak season.

Coney Island For A Staycation

Coney Island is a great place to go for some beach time. It's made even better by the fact that it's only about an hour train ride from Midtown taking the Q, F, N, or D train. You could also take the B, but if you do, you'll end up in Brighton Beach and have to swap over to the Q to get to the boardwalk. Once you get there you'll have plenty to do. Coney Island has one of the most noteworthy boardwalks, arguably in the world. It has endless attractions and foods to pick from. The beach itself is pretty busy, so you have to get there early if you want to go swimming.

While you're there, go to the original Nathan's Hotdogs at least once, you won't regret it.

The nice thing is that you can leave early in the morning from midtown, spend the day at the beach and then take an afternoon or late train back home.

Belford/Port Monmouth

An alternate to Coney Island, that's right around the corner, is Belford and Port Monmouth. Located just south of the city you can take the ferry from Midtown to Belford any day of the year. Once there, you can either stay in Belford or head up to Port Monmouth. Either way, you'll have access to an array of beaches and activities. The nearest beach is Bayshore which will give you access to fishing and a nice place to swim.

Everybody needs time to relax and enjoy the sun and sand. Although Manhattan has pretty much everything, taking a much deserved break and going to a nearby beach is well deserved. Leasing shared office space in Manhattan will put you right in the middle of everything Manhattan has to offer, and will bring you closer to those nearby beaches, should you decide to give yourself an afternoon off :)
