Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Returns to NYC
Before America gets turnt on turkey and settles in to watch some football, all eyes turn to Manhattan during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This November, after a year where celebrations looked so very different, things are gradually starting to get back to normal. The annual pageant of floats, cheerleaders, clowns, marching bands, giant balloons, dancers, Broadway performances and celebs is one of the best NYC events in November.
"For our 95th celebration, we are delighted to return this cherished holiday tradition closer to its original form as we march down the streets of New York City and into the homes of a nationwide audience," says executive producer of the parade, Will Cross. The parade has been a "New York City institution for more than nine decades, growing to become an icon of American pop culture as it annually marks the official start of the holiday season."
There will be some new and notable balloon additions! Look out for Ada Twist, Scientist from the new Netflix show, a larger-than-life Grogu balloon inspired by The Child Funko Pop, and in sweet homage to Tony Sarg is Toni the Bear, named after the great balloon parade pioneer.
Most people have never heard of Tony Sarg, yet his role in creating the parade we all know and love today is undeniable as the inventor of the high-flying character balloons. In 1935, he also created the first ever mechanically animated window displays for Macy's department store. His genius inventions have gifted New Yorkers and all who visit, with beautiful memories to last a lifetime.
