Music
What: reduce stress response via the magic of music. Try tuning into Theta Binaural Beats on YouTube.
When: You need a relaxing break.
Why: music moderates our body rhythms stimulating soothing sensations. Music is a medium that allows us to intentionally shift our focus away from the verbal world (Smith, 2008).
Skydive in between meetings
What: Relax into the wonder of the sky. Go outside for a few minutes, look up to the sky, breathe in slowly and exhale for a longer period of time (4-2-8 if you need a rhythm). Notice the color of the sky that day. Imagine what it would be like to soar through the sky as a bird, feel yourself expanding with each breath.
When: In between meetings or lunch or when you just need a break.
Why: Expanding/ Altering perspective visually can reduce feelings of vulnerability found in stressful states.
