What's in Your Office - 45 Riots
45 Riots is a live-music band and boutique entertainment company based in New York City. We are a collective of musicians who have all been performing together side by side for many years with great synergy, interchangeably with 45 Riots as well as working together in the NYC nightclub circuit, in each other's original music projects, on tour abroad backing up known artists, and in the recording studio. 45 Riots performs a wide range of private parties, corporate events, and concerts throughout the year.
We are also involved in the production of varied creative music projects. The business was started six years ago to offer something more musically sincere and succinct within the NYC entertainment and events industry.
We strove to bring the raw energy and vibe of the NYC nightclub concert experience to the private side of things, playing with vibrant personality, unique musical arrangements, a great sense of improvisation, and a depth to our repertoire untouched by most of our competitors. All of the individuals on our team have successful original music projects of their own and tour with celebrity artists around the globe. We've all been inspired by our long musical journeys in life, from the inception of our craft in heart and hand to university study, travels abroad, changing times in the arts and in the world around us, and the muse which takes its form in the grind of late Gotham nights hustling from gig to gig.
45 Riots performs events at myriad venues throughout New York City, the Tri-State area, the Northeast, as well as nationally and internationally. Individually, we've performed at almost every iconic nightclub and concert venue in the city, some which have since closed their doors, and others which have just recently opened. Some of our favorite private party venues at which to perform are those which are true music concert halls being hired out for a private event. Being able to play on a real stage in a tuned room is always a pleasure. Loft spaces can be intimate and warm in vibe, especially complimented by low lighting. Performing outdoors for tented events in the warmer months is always nice. The acoustics are usually outstanding in the absence of hard floors, walls, glass, concrete, and other reflective surfaces which can make for a challenging acoustic setting. We always love to perform huge corporate gala events for large audiences concert-style production and sound support.
Every year during the slow winter months starting in January we produce new music video media and creative studio recordings to both invigorate our team after the long year of non-stop event performances and engage our clients and fans. Last year we worked on an original music EP though the project was stalled by our very busy events calendar. It will be picked up again soon and completed. This year we are starting off with an original Afro-jazz composition brought in by one of our musicians who hails in part from Nigeria. We will record the very unique arrangement and release it for our followers, and perhaps follow up with a music video. A couple years ago we produced a big band orchestra version of a Beyonce R&B/pop hit complete with a music video, based on an original arrangement penned by one of our Grammy Award-winning players. When we first launched 45 Riots we recorded several original compositions, all featuring different lead vocalists from our crew and each song showcasing a unique music genre and writing style. We have many, many inspired ideas for future projects which will come to fruition in time; all of them engage and support the local NYC musical artist community, an important goal of our business since we first started.
This is a hard question as I'm not in the office everyday myself and usually not early enough to eat breakfast in the neighborhood, but I can mention some favorite lunch and dinner options nearby. Miss Korea on W. 32nd St for Korean BBQ, Cafe China on E. 37th St for amazing Szechuan, Nanoosh on Madison for quick but healthy Middle Eastern-themed take-out, Besfren on E. 32nd for its honey ginseng tea, Gregory's Coffee for that needed caffeine boost and very friendly service.
Why Broadway Suites:
I wanted to have a space which was affordable but sizable in a convenient location for our clients, one which had boardrooms and a receptionist available, and a private office for my business which I could easily access anytime, meet with clients, furnish to my liking, and secure our office items. We've been here now three years and have grown from a smaller space down the hall our first year to a larger corner room with a beautiful view of the Empire State Building and Madison Avenue. We've gotten to know some of our neighbors on the floor and have made friends. Everyone here is professional, friendly, and relaxed. The art in the hallways gives a special homey touch.
